We were at the food pantry on the Eid al-Adha

CRC volunteers were at the West End Food Pantry to give back to our community in honor of Eid al-Adha on the first day of August.

On August 1st, West End Food Pantry in Kunkletown PA, one of the most renowned in the area, continued its efforts to distribute food to those in need. This time, Chestnut Retreat Center volunteers were also there. As to abide by COVID-19 precautions put forth by the state, guests stayed in their vehicles, and WEFP and CRC volunteers dropped off food packages to their cars.

This day was also meaningful for CRC volunteers as it was the second day of Eid Al-Adha which is a holiday for Muslims to share meals with family, friends, and neighbors. CRC distributed goody bags that included gyro, baklava, and a postcard to 230 families.

The Chestnut Retreat Center’s Outreach Coordinator, Ali Ak, said he was thankful to West End Food Pantry for allowing them to join the cause on such a meaningful day and said to look out for more activities like this in the future!

With this opportunity, we would like to thank the West End Food Pantry volunteers for their service to the community and would like to wish all who are celebrating a blessed Eid.
